I talked to a guy who runs a team with his wife pulling flat with a curtain side deal. They both have there clearances and he has been with LS for IIRC 11 years. They haul a lot of government loads where a secret clearance is needed and you have to be a team operated truck. Had a huge sleeper on it, I think it was like a 160". He said they do very good and he loves being there.

What company side. Landstar doesn't have company trucks. Minimum requirements are 1 year experience, so I'm not sure you guys will qualify. I know quite a few agents that run team flatbed loads, and pay premium for it. If you have a squeaky clean background, after you run HERE for a while, you can take the AA&E class, get your background checks done, install a qualcom and start hauling the big money, high risk loads.

What Fortycal said. We don't have a company side. Our BCO teams make very good money from what I've heard, but as all of the Landstar gang who frequents this board has said time and time again, it's on you as to what money you make.

It takes a little time to learn our system and can possibly benefit if you get hooked up with a few agents. You have to decide what it will take for you to survive with your wife. Not sure she will be able to get on with Landstar as a team without 6 mos to 1 year of driving experience. Good luck to you.

Hey fortycalglock, how long do you need to be there for before you are able to take the AA&E class especially if you already have your clearance?

Per our A&E department whom I just spoke with over the phone. You must be a team, and have six consecutive months with L/S before you can qualify to move the A&E loads. Hope this helps!

I apologize,,,I thought that LS had some company trucks... I am not sure why I thought that, thinking about it now, I know I have read many times that they are an O/O company only... Brain Fart

Thank you for your help,, I have a 3 year plan and am simply researching right now to see where or if LS fits into this plan.

I've heard if you're coming from a competitor and already pulling AA&E, they will get you going ASAP, otherwise, like OZR said. I would highly recommend listing your clearances on your app and with your recruiter either way.
