Trying to book an oversize load from Oklahoma to Iowa over the weekend. Over 14 feet wide 450 miles and they only want to pay $2k. Yeah I got a laugh out of that. I told what they wanted done properly professionally with no claims give me a call that's going to cost him a lot more.
Landstar is getting cheap.

I've noticed it, too. If they've got a load sitting on the boards for hours, with comments like "I can get you a FAIR rate", it's probably not at a fair rate.

Your landstar agent was probably just starting out, and thought it was a good rate because it paid more than what he'd found his first few weeks bottom feeding on the boards. Additionally, rates are all over the place right now. As with most brokerages, you can generalize based on the rapport of the company, but generalizations don't represent individuals. Gotta find and pull the good brokers out of the garbage fire.

I guess it's better than last month's comment. That was "DON'T ASK FOR A BILLION DOLLARS!11!"
Steel Dragon, Dave_in_AZ, Mudguppy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Landstar is no different than any other large carrier or brokerage firm. They got good paying agents with good freight and they got piss poor agents with cheap freight filled with headaches.
Oxbow, Road Killer, Hegemeister and 5 others Thank this. -
