There's stuff on the board that sometimes pays more for the same load, that what the direct agent pays for the same load. Agents eating other agents, or trying to become super agents I suppose.
Even the best freight doesn't always get covered, and will find it's way to the board.

Every load has a column that tells us if it's a direct customer. It's marked with a Y or N. It's pretty simple, Y means YES take this load, N means NO don't take it.

I understand Schneider is where the big money is though.

If your the type that worries what the other guy makes don't go to landstar , you'll never be happy .
I calculated landstars cut of my revenue for one year at 100,000 $ , and it didn't bother me at all , well almost not at all , it's still way to much .
If you just mind your own numbers you'll be happier

If that was the case,The Brokers would complain and scream to high heaven and wouldn't be able to say "The money's back in the office instead of the truck"
If Knowing Landstar made $100k off of you doesn't bother you...I Hope you made $500k gross off of them then, Or It BETTER Bother you.

Unfortunately..Its a Brokers World, In the 60's 70's and Part of the 80's...It was an owner-operators world- Not anymore

Nope I barely broke 300k , they make more money then they should , but it was still my best year in trucking .
    That's in 35+ years
I just focus on that not LS cut of the revenue .

That was running team in AA&E , I'm lucky to break 200k as a solo

I agree with the premise of the thread ,
Landstars freight has gotten cheaper and they have less of their own .
I think that is a industry wide problem , prices are more competitive then I've ever seen

So Let's do some arithmetic then.....If you grossed 300k,And Landstar made 100k off of you- That's a 25% margin!!!

Sorry- That's unacceptable to me for someone to Lead me to freight.......even if your leased on to them

Anyway, I Never liked Landstar- Something about them makes me uneasy, Haven't pinpointed it yet.

Who is to say what the truth is? Wish there were a dozen truth bureaus, one for advertising, etc. It gets difficult to prove.

I make 67% of 98% of line haul plus 100% of fuel surcharge, but they also take nickel and dimes from everywhere.
I also get 8% for my trailer
I had to look at your math , it's more like 25% not 33%
