I keep telling everyone to go to Schneider, the posts boasting of the income is unparalleled, and by the same token Landstar has an equal amount of negative posts, but no one listens.
Landstar is getting cheap.

I will say this though. That part about customer service is 100 percent accurate. Because they don't do ####, and will try and twist a situation to side with a broker every time.
That is 100 percent accurate.
The overall office is mediocre at best. There are a handful of people I've dealt with that are outstanding, but most are lacking. I absolutely expected a lot more in that regard. -
bryan21384 Thanks this.

^Cheap direct freight
^ gets cheaper yet
Couple times I see $850 on a 4 stop to Long Island out of that yard, tarped (which is cheap as #### for all you Rate Per Mile Masters that disregard increased operational costs in the northeast) that the same LS agent offers for $350.....
Just some information for you all to ponder.Attached Files:

That is ridiculous!!
The sad thing is, there are people out here who think that is Good Money. And they are hauling loads for those rates...spyder7723 Thanks this. -
What if you had a load set up at one of those places, and you had the time to grab one of those, or just DH.
I mean I can't see why anyone would take one of those as a primary plan. -
DSK333, BoostedTeg and Ruthless Thank this.

You can plan yourself way out at Landstar, you don't have to sit and wait your turn. Maybe you didn't understand. If you had a load planned already at one of those destinations, why would you not grab the load going there if you had the time?Last edited: Nov 9, 2017

Now i have hauled what i would call cheap freight on occasion. If i take a load out of my main markets to a bad area like el paso or laredo. And there is a cheap(but not insulting cheap) loaf pucking up right there, the same day i deliver, and going back to my good market i will consider grabbing it. But only if it won't slow me down. I won't wait a day for it or hold onto it longer than i could have dh right beak to the good market. -
I was just explaining your way of doing business to some other guys. I haul to a place at premium rate and make good money going there, mostly cause i'm leaving a good market. Lets say clear $2100 in two days, 1000 miles.
There is only cheap heavy coming back, provided you want to come right back to the good. Make $500 on the trip back,
OR
you can DH, spend $400 to $450 fuel another $75 in taxes, not counting the wear on the truck.
SO
That's a $900 loss, for DH back. Your in it for 2 days travel no matter what.
Why not make the money.
In 8 days ( 2 round trips ) you lost $1800.
You DH back, you really showed them, 2100 x 2 = 4200 - 1000 =3200 for just over the week.
You come back loaded. 2100 x 2 = 4200 + 1000 = 5200 for just over the week.
Yep, you really taught them a lesson.bryan21384 Thanks this.
