Man that was funny...thank you 1pod.

Landstar has went downhill. They leased to many people on with not enough freight and the rates hace also dropped do to 2 things. The economy and the lack of service. I have seen to many Landstar guys in the flatbed division with no clue on hoow to do things. Landstar does have many more talented and knowledgeable o/o, but they are all running away now cause there is no freight. The couple of things I don't like are all the charges and dealing with buddy system of agents. If they had the load board that Scheider has (point and click instead of calling) I would at least consider them.

THIS IS WHERE LANDSTAR IS HEADING...ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS ''READ THE WRITING ON THE WALL''

Hate to disappoint you , but BCO's are no longer the back bone of LS.

Once upon a time we were, but we have become rigid in our business practices... They, LS, has found that they have created a Frankenstein by educating us or forcing us to learn about business and what it takes to remain profitable.

Since back in the day when policy dictated that loads must go thru us first, they have since allowed loads to post on our boards as well as broker boards. Now they (LS) have found that they have been able to increase their (LS) bottom line and are encouraging agents to just go ahead and broker their loads to outside carriers for as cheap as they can get it moved and splitting the profits with the agents.

Now they are focusing on "Global Logistics", where they want to be able to be a 1 phone call and we do it all.... they make all the arrangements to move the load from, let's say Japan, to XYZ company in Dallas.... Global Logistics will be our customer and they (LS) will pay us what ever they feel they want to... that is if they don't choose to completely bypass us and just go ahead and broker it out so they can keep more of the profits.

We are only here because we are a "Captive" audience...

Speaking from a O/O that isnt leaded to landstar and that picks up their crummy brokered loads. I would say they pay a good amount of money and maybe the best for every state. My company has been thinking about leasing but I dont want them to take our authority. So we just take their brokered loads.
