One gripe I do have with Landstar is putting a truck on or adding trucks.

It's like rubbing a cheese grater across your nuts for 2 or 3 days.

Now all of this isn't their fault as you're dealing with 2 or 3 entities where your dealing with someone that F up the piece of paper you need for the sequence of events, then goes on break for an hour. And Landstar is basically east coast time zone based for operations, and I'm on the west coast, so that gives me 5 hours during a workday when all the twidgets are at their desks for half their day.

Everyone has been warned repeatedly - GO TO SCHNEIDER.

    SAVE YOURSELF!!!!!!

Schneider, landstar are like the rest of the mega fleets you will make a living they need you and 1000s of driver's are drinking their koolade and are very happy my point is that with a smaller company you see the open market freight contract not the mega fleet contract where they take money off the top then offer you their contract at the lower price and then take a big percentage off that contract. I found this out the hard way and I want to give my fellow driver's more information about how to make the most from their hard work and sacrifices. Do Google searches for companies that pay owner operators 80% and some 90% with your truck and trailer

I run 100 percent load board freight and I find this statement to be very misleading. Not that I agree with DAT Trendlines but they also do not support your premise here. Even if you averaged up all five areas you still only come out with 2.25.

    National average declines 2¢

Okay, when I get back to my house I'm going to try that. Open DAT Load board for my lane (dry van). I'm going to close my eyes and point. If I don't come up with at least $2.50 a mile, I'm going to be very disappointed ;-)

I'm still looking for the $5K van loads from the PNW to L.A. you spoke of, haven't found any yet. I've done some from their to Phoenix for $4Kish, but not L.A.

The load board is mostly leftover cheap freight in one place. But when working with a smaller owner operator companies they search load board, hundreds of different open market brokers , private companies and search engines to find you the best rates available.
