Your own, or freight? We've hauled vehicles in vans, biggest thing is being able to tie them down.

Not my own cars just freight. How do you go about securing the car. Do you have to tie them down or can you block the wheels?
-
I had chain pulls and D-rings in the floor of my van and chains and binders. Ask some bedbuggers how they do it, as they often transport cars with their household goods.

If you have the vertical logistics posts, as in the LandStar vans, you can go from the lower post around the beck of the tire above the axle, and back to the next post on the bottom. Cinch it up and do the other side. Do the same with the other two tires. This will keep the vehicle from shifting from side to side, and also, the straps will not mar the paint, as they only hold onto tie back of the tires. It's the same way we strap down the larger tractors when we haul them in a dry van.

The person processing my application said that once she can confirm I canceled my lease agreement with my current employer she can overnight me all my permits and plates. Is this how they usually do thing? My current employer said that once I cancel my lease with them I need to take truck to shop to have all company property returned to them and leave property.
I am just worried that my truck will be without plates and permits for a day. If I have a truck parked on a public street can the city have it towed if there is no plates or dot/mc #? -
yes, thats how they do it.

Got my decals and permits! I got my IFTA stickers but not the card that usually goes into the permit book. Do I get this later?
Also the Landstar decal didn't apply well to my tractor in the hot southern California sun. I see why other Landstar drivers get custom decals made. -
Do not apply decals dry. Soapy water, or shaving cream, sprayed on the surface and the sticky side of the decal, will allow you to position the decal. Then squegee from the center (the edge of a credit card will work), of the decal, to the outer edges, to get the bubbles and wrinkles out. In the hot sun, let it set for about an hour to dry out and they will stay in place. In cold and rainy conditions, let it set longer.Dewey120 Thanks this. -
The processor said to head to Reno for orientation on Monday but she never gave me an address or time to show up. I tried calling her and emailing her but no repsonse. Is there a different person I can get in touch with from Landstar?
