Sitting in orientation now in Reno, is there anything specific I should ask Lisa or just keep my mouth shut and ears open?
I like how there is only 3 of us here. I remember with CRE there were about 120 people on the first day. One future BCO showed up a hour late and Lisa told him to come back tomorrow. -
Well I post on here tonight with a heavy heart, I had to give up my truck after we fought long and hard to make a profit for 6+ months and just couldnt get it together in time so I had to give the truck back. Landstar said come back anytime if I can get a truck together again, so now Im looking for a job so I can hopefully turn my foreclosure on my house around and keep a roof on my kids heads haha. Aint life grand sometimes. Ill come back someday if I can buy a cash truck, these payments and lackluster rates just killed me. Ill say it again, that 35% that LS takes just kills the rate, they should implement a sliding percentage so we can survive on lower rates or something. Anyhoo no bad feelings on Landstar theyre cool, anybody know whos better? CR England, Covenant, or Swift? I gotta start my company driver search and probably have to go thru training again hahahaha. How many of you just cringed at the thought of a company job again? No worries...........................LOVIN LIFE!!!!!!!!

ya landstar asked me if I wanted to hook up with some other truck owners but if Im gonna "HO" myself out again I gotta have medical insurance. Havent had any for 7 months now and I have diabetes so jus gotta break down and get a job. Probably look for something local in vegas if it even exsists here anymore, no work at all here. Worst job market in the country. Thanks tho. been cool bein part of the club for a while but O well.

It's not the percentage, it's the rates. I seen many a time that people get a much higher percentage than I have, but their money was less. Back in the 80s, a friend of mine tried to get me to lease where he was. We both had our own reefers, he got 70% to the truck and trailer, I got 65% to the truck and trailer, but because of the difference in rates, between the two companies, I averaged a nickle a mile more than he did. I was leased to an all O/O company, he had to compete against company trucks.
Good luck to you.gonejpn and herfinharry Thank this. -
We have worked for rwo of those companies u mentioned.... Covt in 2011 for nine mths... If u r not ur disp fav, ur payck will suck... Benefits r not good either! Swift was in 2007 and hey mileage pay wasnt there, but benefits were good. I would ck out Conway or averitte... Both pay well and have good benefits for company drivers.... This is based on team driving, not sure on solo. Good luck!
