I get 73% and have to pay to rent the trailer. As Autocar stated, the guys pulling the company owned van's get 65% but pay no rental fee's.
Here's an example from my last pay statement.
My truck made $4,300
My trailer made me $418
My trailer rental is $170
So i made an extra $248 pulling the platform trailer

Looking at jumping into the world of O/O after 17 years in the industry. I have looked into company after company but keep coming back to LS. Started out working for smaller family companies where the drivers did a lot and I mean a lot of looking for their own loads and self dispatching so I figured that out early on. Have an impeccable driving record "knock on wood" with over 2 million miles accident free. Am slowley getting all my ducks in a row here and am currently shopping for a truck. Looking to pay cash so there will be no payment burden but need to know what age requirements LS has on tractors. Guess I could just go ahead and contact LS but dont want to go thru that process until all is lined up. With the lane, and times I run I rarely see LS drivers to chat with and spend very little time in the truck stops. Any help or advice would be greatly appriciated.

Well that worries me. I start orientation next week and have been told that I'm good to go. Has anyone else gotten held up in orientation? I was under the impression that LS wouldn't have me come unless they had already sorted everthing out. Also can anyone tell me if the load board that i get on on landstarbrokers.com is the same as what the BCOs use. Just wandering if it was a indicator of what I will be searching loads for? thaxs -
Thanks fourtycalglock, my weopan of choice by the way, that will make the truck decision a lot simpler. So many companies want you in a newer truck with a massive payment then want to pay a buck a mile. Run enough miles and you can make the payments and go home every now and then with a few bucks in your pocket. Learned a long time ago its not about the number of miles you can run but the amount you can get for the miles you do run. Being an ex mechanic with a buddy who is a Cat mechanic, the truck I buy will most likely get the minimum of an inframe before it ever sees its first load. Once again thanks.

The broker board only shows about a third of the loads that are on our board and ours shows the rates.
