Do they give away those convex bumper mirrors in Grand Praire like Lisa was giving away at the Reno orientation? Mine got water inside of it and is eating away at the mirror part.

My thought was to pay a little more up front for a little more reliability and dependability,so far for me its been a good thing. If you have a good cash flow a "get buy" truck will work but you have to factor in what happens to your reputation when your having to cancel loads or worse having to re-power because you went cheap on a truck. Also down time while your in the shop is costly. Of course the best case scenario would be to have good cash flow,a shop and the ability to do your own work. I have the ability to spin wrenches but have no place to be tearing a truck apart as much as I would love to.
Your advice on savings has you mixing maintenance and emergency funds, they should be seperate. Again Im more conservative on this issue Im going to put money away in my maintenance fund at least until I cover an above average in frame,Im talking 25k+. The problem is you find yourself dipping into the pool for repairs so it takes some time to get ahead. Most guys say .05-.10 per mile of course more is always nice. For an emergency fund a three month reserve is a good number to shoot for.Zangief Thanks this. -

I want to throw this out there....
I have an idea and want to see where this goes...
I've been wanting to lease on with Landstar but kinda don't want to
just buy a truck and be thrown to the wolves...
I was thinking that if maybe there is an O/O out there who may be
looking to retire or a small fleet owner with an idle truck that I could
jump on and start out with some help until I was able to fly on my own.
This could be a win-win where the owner can make money by taking
a cut of my profit, selling me either his truck or another and in return
helping me to start out on the right foot and showing me the ropes of
a veteran O/O....
I've been in trucking my whole life with 40 out of 48 states and just about
a million miles safe driving. This is kinda on my bucket list to own my own.
I am 57, single and currently live in Florida but can relocate anywhere if
needed. I am working for UPS Freight and can leave them with 2 or so
weeks notice. This is just an idea that I had and just want to get some
feedback if I am on the right track or not.....
If you have any ideas, please PM me for my phone number....
Any help would be appreciated....
