*Shifting gears here*
Been reading the posts and a lot of common sense people on here; and some not so much lol. I'm currently a company driver and LOVE what I do, except I can't stand not having more freedom. I understand the concept of the company (i.e. not holding your hand, having to choose proper loads etc etc) and I like it. I like the possible opportunities in both revenue and freedom. I'm confident I can do well with LS, given I work hard and smart.
When I send in my app., I'll have just over a year OTR with full winter. Any advice/feedback will be much appreciated. What can I do to ensure application acceptance and initial 3 month success?
I also understand, like most companies, it is what you make of it.
Thanks guys -
L/S is all O/O. Are you going to buy a truck?
-
Keep after them to make sure your paperwork doesn't get lost on somebodys desk.
-
Landstar requires 2 years OTR experience. -
That must have changed. -
I'm with him. I called a recruiter and got all the basics. 1-year with 1 full season on winter was what I was told.
And yes HeavyDude, I plan on buying a truck. -
In 05 when I joined them it was 3. They've since changed it to one. -
Well ####, I was wrong again.
Well Lynchmob, hope all goes well with the truck purchase. Get something that gets good fuel mileage.

You can do just fine at L/S but, it takes time to learn the system. Don't give up, call the agents, introduce youself. Learn what loads are profitable/not.
