And that is why I bought a new glider with a pre-emission engine. I didn't have to play with someone else's specs or problem child and I got the best overall value for my dollar. California is a non-issue. I gave up on CA the last century. Haven't run west of I-25 this century. Truck has been very reliable and a very low cost per mile to operate. There are alternatives to buying a new emission truck or settling for someone else's view of how a truck should be spec'd and playing a fix it up game. All the benefits of new with warranties, without hassles of emissions junk, a million sensors, etc.

Been a minute since I've been on here.. Would like to say thanks to all you guys for the input.. Very appreciated..
New question - Applied, about going on a month ago now, for pre-qual.. Called several times asking what the status was, keep getting told they are waiting for info, MVR etc.. Does this normally take a month or more to get an OK from this company? BTW, not likely there is an issue as I've kept my record clean for a while now.. If there was a problem I'm sure I would have gotten a "no dice" by now.. Surprised it's gone this long..

No flat experience.. I do agree if I intend to be successful I'm gonna have to get some.. All the flatbed companies I seem to look at are looking for at least 1yr exp regardless if you are CO driver or Owner Op.. I'm looking at WTI out of Alabama? I think that's their base.. Anyway, they get good ratings from Operators in general and they will train.. Might head there instead of LS

You have to hound them. They will get pissy with you. Keep hounding them.

Really!!? Not sure I need 'em that badly! It's just a pre-qualification.. Are they under-staffed or something?

My theory is that they do it so that the people who give up easy will do just that. Maybe they figure if you are pushy about it you'll come on board and be an earner...for both you and them.

The good news is if you can tolerate it during the onboarding process it ends there. I hardly ever hear from anyone at Landstar. In 14 months so far I got one nastygram from the log department about not putting BOL number on the logs and a thank you email for 1 year safe driving. Other than that I have no communication with them and I like it that way.

    fargonaz and Rattlehead808 Thank this.
