Hopefully today concluded a substantial funk period.
Two stops.
Get to stop 1. "Take Door 6. Have you unloaded in a few."
75 minutes later. " Sooooooo, what's up? I have a second stop 260 miles from here, and they go home at 1400."
"You don't have an appointment. Your appointment was Wednesday."
Let the fire drill begin.
Of course the agent lies. I mean he is an agent.
Anyways. 5 balls to the wall hours, and made it. No water. Piss like a race horse. Lost my shuttle load.
Because this business is rocket science.
And it's a direct shipper.
The OM is not pleased.

As long as the business continues to operate and make money nothing will change.JolliRoger, Bumper, dwells40 and 2 others Thank this. -
After I got emptied, or as I was being unloaded, somebody does post a shuttle load.
$1K.
Call.
"How late can it pick up?"
1700 ( It's 1400 at this time ) 52 miles away, but traffic.
Okay. I'll take it. Give info.
Nothing happening. 1420 call, no answer. " Please text me."
Is load good? Yay or nay?
No reply.
They are shopping the rate.
1435 - Don't book me on this. Traffic is too much now.
1437- Here comesthe freight bill. Pick up has to be by 1600.
1438- Never make it. SIR...I told you cannot do this load.
1440 - Call customer service, tell them the deal, they take me off the load. You must CYA with these people.
1505- email from agent " I took you off the load."
Sometimes this is a very tough business. It's the agents and Landstar that make it difficult at times, mostly the agents. They just don't GAF.
More of a percentage it goes better. But maybe 60/40 at best.
That's why so many look for something in the way of a dedicated run(s) so they can be a company driver without the grief.
These people that work in offices........what do they really do???? Really.
They process information. That is it. They aren't very engaged in their jobs, and they have people pissed off or traumatized yelling or just generally unhappy most of the day.
And when you peel the bark off, that's from agents not doing their jobs.
Start industry wide, not just driver, drug testing and see what happens.roshea, Speed_Drums, JolliRoger and 3 others Thank this. -
I don't know how comfortable you are with telling lies, but I won't do it.dwells40 Thanks this. -

The trend with Agents has continued?
Agents have continued there evolution to pure sales slime, new ones rarely get trained in overall business perspective. -
Landstar is kind of b.s. They don't ever have as many loads as they claim they do, at any given time. The whole model is stupid really when you think about it. But, I am still here. Like an idiot. I am still waiting for detention from December to be paid on one load. $400 of detention.

Well, if they didnt allow double brokering of loads it would eliminate a LOT of B.S. brokers. That would be a step in the right direction.
