Just can't trust the ultra liberal culture here.
Everyone has a scam.
Here's how you know you're in nut land-
Everywhere in the U.S. a 10 pound bag of ice is roughly $2.50.
In nut land(s) it's that or more, for a 7 pound bag.
Everywhere in the U.S. a half gallon of milk is $0.99 to $1.45.
In nut land(s) it's almost $2.50.

I already know it's going to happen again.
I'm going to get back to Phoenix, and there's going to be no freight in Phoenix or SoCal. -
I've heard stories of people busting their tail to score good loads outside of LS, only to have an agent give the load to somebody else.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

I signed my truck on to Landstar for a year 2009-2010. I had a lot of fun but the rates were super bad per the economy . Dry Van. My buddy Sam did better as he pulls Step., we both hooked up with a Bosnian broker by the name of Danny out of Houston . Whenever I was booked on a load and Danny had a load he wanted me to pull for him in the area he’d call me up and tell me to drop off the other brokers load and tell him I busted an airbag and I couldn’t pick the other load up . Sam got a regular gig from Danny pulling alfalfa out of AZ to a polo pony farm in Florida . They both cut LS out of it and split Landstar’s cut . This was before E Logs. Sam would just pull the loads and never turn his logs in and get a check from the customer on the other end . After a few months Sam cut Danny out completely and kept all the revenue for himself ha ha

Right and wrong is in the eye of the beholder but legal is not. Unless Danny or Sam had their own authority and insurance hauling those loads could have been career ending. It's just not worth it.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

Excellent point.
We're on e log, and I have 0 problem making the money I do, 100% legally.
My truck isn't altered, and I play by all the rules, and it's just not that overwhelming.
I think my own numbers would be good too, but even more work.
Not sure that I'd end up netting that much more in the end.
And I don't think anyone ever really gets away with anything in this world / life. Things come back and bite, sometimes quite harshly.drvrtech77, driverdriver and jsnell Thank this. -
Career ending ? Nah. Maybe Landstar cuts Danny’s job . Probably not if he pulls in revenue for them . They look the other way . Sam may have lost his contract just so they could make it look good but he had a direct contract with his customer by that time so he didn’t care. This is how freight is. Get the most that you can. You can complain about it , do nothing and take your 33 percent paycut for doing all the work or go out and get you some .

Often my 20 to 25 percent cut, like 95% of the time, is still more than what other folks are pulling for.

If he had got in an accident and hurt someone it would be hard to get work after all was said and doneDave_in_AZ Thanks this.
