Well the problem with where you prefer to run is that is where everyone else wants to run.
I'm not trying to discourage you. I just want you to understand it will likely going to be tough. Be prepared to deadhead for just about any load to get you out of western Canada.

This! I'm in Calgary, and very lucky to have regional/city guys to fetch loads for me, or else everything would be a major deadhead.Asymptote Thanks this.

I contacted Landstar today for a load posted on loadlink. They quoted me CAD $900 for a 43,000 lbs truckload for a 620 miles run from Innisfail to southern B.C.
As we had never worked with Landstar before, we were required to complete a lengthy online application form .
I signed up with them but wont haul for so cheap.
With that said, the rates really are pathetic and a losing proposition in Western Canada. I cant wait for my truck to come back to Ontario.
FYI, the rates are even worse going back to Ontario unless you cross the border and secure a load in the USA. -
Yea, they don’t call it Land-starve for nothing.
-
We finally secured a load to Denver, CO that pays way better and my driver is glad to be on the way back.

Landstar is bad. Go to Schneider.

Oh yeah lots of options from Denver area back to Canada...........
magoo68, Asymptote, BigHossVolvo and 1 other person Thank this. -
My truck reaches Denver thursday morning. Will let you guys know how it goes.
Driver initially wanted to go to California from Edmonton via any route. But there are so many lowballers to that lane that we changed plans and instead went to Denver. And if all goes well , he will be back in GTA before his reset.Last edited: Nov 28, 2018
