Your best opportunity to take advantage of tight capacity and the incredibly high rates that come with it are going to be at Landstar. SNI has a lot of guys with orange colored glasses who think it's the best deal going. I wonder how many of them have ever seen a dry van load paying $4-$5 a mile on 400-600 loaded miles going into a decent area? Used to haul a lot of freight like that as an outside carrier thru LS-broker. Many times there were LS BCO's loading up and hauling the exact same freight for I'm sure excellent rates. Granted, not everyone pulling a dry van at LS see's rates like that and in fact I'm sure many BCO's will find it hard to believe but it does happen. Have no reason to bs on any of this stuff as I am not nor have I ever been leased to either company. Just from the outside looking in if I were facing the same choice I know exactly who I would choose.
russellkanning and CanadianVaquero Thank this. -
Well said and the truth!!! Ive leased to both and like I said in other posts I make far more than I ever did at SNI. Which is the bottom line! It took me almost 6 months from the time I said I was gonna leave SNI to actually leave, I remember the SNI mentality they feed you......russellkanning Thanks this. -
Talked to a buddy of mine at LS and he was Pissssssssssssed off
went to Home Depot not sure where . No drop trailer available and his trailer utilization people told him they had 72 hrs to get him an empty .... That's nuts and he sits for free why they find it .
Nit sure if he will get paid to get a new trailer or not so I think he told them he'd just wait for his trailer to unload which will be about 48 hrs
That suxsrussellkanning Thanks this. -
Any SNI guys that can attest to if this happens at Schneider and if you are made to wait on a empty or they have a crazy rule like a 72 hr rule etc ..
-
He told me at LS when they give you a trailer guard it with your life , never let it go .
To me LS says on Van that they don't recommend getting your own trailer so. I'm unsure as to why if they don't utilize their own very well .. Guess im confused in the philosophy of this
LS drivers explain please -
See I don't even entertain the wish-washers and the Nay Sayers, I'm just here to help and be a whiteness to what's good.

I'm not saying it's this good every week, but It can be if you dedicate and apply yourself. My dedicated freight only runs twice a month because we go nation wide, spend a week out, then haul other LS freight once we empty out to get back to the manufacturing plant. Pee-can / Pecan. Don't take my word for it. Do your own homework.

Oh and @jar-head, the deal w/ the trailers in my opinion is the conflict of interest. LSTR of course generates the extra 7% revenue if you pull company van, so it benifits them if you pull theirs, which is no big problem.
SO; There's pro's and cons, because there are a lot of good paying loads that are drop and hook like the tire loads paying $2.75-$3.50+ a mile but many of these loads can be arranged to be live load if you request that to the agent over that particular load.
Then which you have heard empties can be a hassle at times can be occasionally true because once BCO's get their hands on one they KEEP it! Lol! Which is a good idea to do. But me personally, I never had much of a problem. Before I left orientation in Jefferson,ga I had an agent calling me to take some good paying fedex freight to Baltimore and once I dropped it I could take an empty out their pool, no problem. I had one issue while doing walmart dedicated, because all the guys put kingpin locks on the Landstar trailers. Called up Landstar, and they sent some to come break the lock, and boom! No problem, left with an empty after I decided to leave that account.
Now, having your own trailer will bypass little issues like this.Jar-Head Thanks this.
