Looks as if Landstar retained 50 percent of the fuel discount.

I'm just breaking out the numbers , deadhead , fuel and hotel are my only expenses . Once I deliver I'm done with the saddle on my back . As far as fuel discounts , the surcharge is around 2.50 a gallon , the pilot discount is just an extra nickel ...

I was leased onto JBK for six years , cryogenics , I learned the hard way how to cut fuel , keep up on maintenance , turn my own wrenches , etc

Landstar seems to have allot of hands in the pot so to speak then they have their fees and the inspection debacle which I can see a BCO having to foot the bill on most inspections through that loop whole ..

Im pretty sure I'm SNI bound

    Here's my numbers and equipment

    2006 Freightliner
    Tri PAC APU
    30k or less loads = 8.0 to 8.75 mpg
    30 to 40k = 7.6 to 7.7 mpg
    40-44 k 7.2 to 7.275 mpg
    Empty with trailer 10.75 - 11.25
    Bob tail - 13.0 to 13.75 mpg
    idle time less than 10%
    truck payment $ 1025.63 ( monthly )

i think ill do just fine at SNI .

I want to keep this thread alive as it helped me to make my decision and hopefully it will help others .
Be it LS or SNI either way it's has allot of useful information here

Remember which ever company you choose .. It's a business decision treat it as such and keep your head in the game you can achieve anything you want if you just put your mind to it .

Is it harder that way ? Sure , but most things in life worth having are . No one is gonna hand you the keys to the castle unless you spend your time manning the door first .

How are you getting those mpg on an 06 shaker? Im Guessing it's a 14 L EGR Detroit? That would be pretty impressive to see them, must be driving 55-58MPH

I did $2.50 per odometer mile last year on 60,000 miles. That is to the truck, after Landstar's vig. The year before that I did $2.11 on 70,000 miles and the year before that was $2.12 on 80,000 miles. That's three years of actual revenue, to the truck, on odometer miles.
