Let me know when you can afford your own insurance/authority... Obviously you're not making enough where you're at to afford it!!!

This a Qoute from the Almighty Rollin Coal proclaiming he cant afford insurance on a dry van.... Just be glad you don't haul Reefer Trailer.... There would be No light at all at the end of the tunnel for you to chase......

"Have you looked at insurance costs recently? It's very expensive to open up new authority or re-activate old one. Even more so than a couple of years ago. There's a lot of reasons for why I see value in my lease. I'm not going to write a book for you or anyone else been posting here for years most of the info is already out there."

I have a clean record, nothing on it, but starting out they want over 10K with 2.5K down and almost 1k a month. It all adds up and it is relative. To me, that is expensive insurance and I think it should be lower. Even the price you mentioned isn't cheap in my mind.

But, like I said it is all relative. To each their own. You did, however, say that RC said himself he could not afford insurance. A statement that has no truth.

Look. I've been debt free and all cash in for over the last 10+ years of my life. I have plenty of bankroll to fall back on so don't you worry I won't be trying to get your foodstamps. Yeah I'll use insurance expense doubling as a crutch. I think it's ridiculous what insurance costs. I'll also use the fact that I don't want to deal with invoicing and a lot of other things that go with being independent. I choose to be leased on so I don't have to deal with those thing - just like most anyone else leased on does. I also would lose access to Sylectus, Ryder, Covenant among other things. I'm sure F2F would still broker out to me as an independent even off some of that bid stuff, but it wouldn;t be a priority because outside carriers aren;t the priority. Helped to foster and build a lot of that stuff. You don't just walk aways from that for a few pennies more. You guys working at a huge company where networking isn;t part of the business and stranglely prices are not negotiable (what business out here doesn't negotiate prices?!?!) would not understand.

I get the negotiations and etc . But to a person who doesn't want that head ache I think that SNI is a very viable option to not have to deal with the added work involved .

Now on the flip side - if you earn it you should get it meaning if you put the work in you should be compensated as such . Risk = Reward

And that's the conclusion I came to.. Schneider just simpler, if you want it Simple, then there's nothing wrong with that. LS isn't complicated in it's own right but between the two SNI is less complexed.
