So today I was informed that the plant I haul to is closing down for the holidays this year (never have in the last 25 years they've been operating) but now I get to take 3 weeks off unpaid. This comes only a month after they shut down for the entire month of October and I also went unpaid.
That being said, I am highly leaning towards going back to LS and running a company SD. Just wondering how the rates are looking to run local stuff around Chicago, say a 200 mile radius that way I get home nightly?? I was with them on the van side back in 2007 and it was horrible, but I know the flat/SD side is much better. Just wondering how much???
And the other thing I like about LS is if I want to grab a good load out to CA or east I can to help pay off some bills of the opportunity popped up.

-
Buddy of mine just leased to LS pulling 45' with side kit
if i get 53' step can u keep me busy with good military freight ? -
Good military freight no longer exists. -
WHY? Have the millitary shut down !!
SHC and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
If I do make the switch it will definatley be a 53' step. Just kind of leery about making a change with the new year around the corner. I know this industry gets very slow thru Jan and Feb.
And why can't you PM??? Were you a bad boy??? LOL -
Not yet, soon. That aside there are so many fingers in that pie it can't help but look like sh i t.SHC Thanks this.

I had originally thought about getting a 48' flat with a lift axle but after speaking with some BCO's it seems the 53' step is the way to go, they just said to make sure to buy ramps and levelers.rollin coal Thanks this.

If I was going to be a jerk I'd say don't do it the rates suck but that isn't the case. 200 miles or less isn't all that great it seems but the 3-600 mile stuff seems to pop for me. The way I do it is I look for freight in the midwest going to midwest or mid south paying $1000.00 gross or better on 300 miles, that way you can cover empty miles and still make out. My drop dead rate is 2.50, by that I mean it's slower than molasses and I need to pay bills.volvodriver01, rollin coal and SHC Thank this.
