I read somewhere about a year or two ago that Landstar now takes their cut of the fsc when it comes to their BCO's.

You really don't know what your talking about, do you? If the load pays 2,000 it pays 2,000. That's it. That's how it was explained to you, not 2,000 plus 480 fuel. For LS drivers the agent breaks out the fuel surcharge out of the rate, which is 2,000 remember, so for LS drivers that means $480 fuel surcharge paid out at 100%, and $1,520 linehaul paid out at whatever your percentage is.

Your other post indicate your a fleet owner, yet you don't grasp that simple concept???????

Why are you spreading lies? Did Landstar cancel your lease on you? Are you that bitter? Of course Landstar pays out Fuel Surcharge at 100%.

Landstar DOES NOT take their cut of the FSC. In our system, the agents seperate it out. You have a spot for the linehaul, and then a place to put in anything from co-drivers pay, tarp fees, FSC, and even hazardous duty pay. There's even a place for us to pay a driver out of our pockets for things that result from our screw up.

The system will not allow us to part out for approved carriers. We pay them a flat rate that includes their linehaul, tarps, FSC, etc. We don't take a huge cut off the top, and we don't try and screw people out of every penny we can. At least at our offices; we give you a fair cut, and what you need to stay moving.

If there are any BCO's interested in "signing on" with us and having us find loads for you, I'm more than happy to oblige. Same goes for approved carriers. If you fellas want to form a working relationship and help us get our freight moved at fair prices, then we're more than willing to help you find reloads and give you the information. We can't really broker them out as that would be double brokering, but I can get you the phone information and details.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask them. I do ask that you refrain from spreading rumors and making accusations, as that really shines a bad light on us. If I don't know an answer, I will find it out from someone who does and get back to you. You have my word on that.

I thought that I explained it to you where you could understand. I said the same thing that you just said.

I have only posted what I read. I have no idea if it is true or not. That is why I posted it so that I could find out if it was true. And I have never had anyone cancel a lease on me. I left Landstar on very good terms. I am not bitter at Landstar. In fact, I have always had a good relationship with them. I have even recommended that some lease to Landstar. But, if I have a question about something then I will ask. There is no need to get belligerant over me asking about something that I read. Since I don't have access to the paperwork on any of their loads I don't know if it is true or not. It isn't spreading lies. It is asking a question.

It wasn't my desire to spread any rumors about Landstar. I did want to know if it was true about the fsc. If what I read was incorrect, then it is good to clear that up. I would hope that Landstar would pass 100% of the fsc along to the BCO.

As I have stated previously, I have always had a good relationship with Landstar and would not have a problem recommending them to those wanting to broker loads or to lease on as a BCO. If you read most of my other posts you will see that I am not anti Landstar and have recommended them to others on numerous occasions. I have always tried to present a fair and accurate picture of my experience with Landstar.

No you didn't. You came up with the 2,480 number out of thin air, insinuating that LS was keeping the fuel surcharge or something.

I went back and reread the original post made by Grizzly. Apparently, I misunderstood or misread what he posted. I was trying to state that when Landstar brokers a load to an outside carrier that they don't usually break out the fsc. If the load pays $2,000 including the fsc, then they take their cut off the total amount to the outside carrier. If they book it with a BCO then they should back out the fsc from the rate and then take their cut from what is left. I believe that I thought that the fsc was not included in the $2,000 rate that he posted. That is why I added the fsc to the $2,000 in my previous post. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

G/MAN, I've searched and searched but don't have the time to find the thread a couple weeks ago where I believe it was you that said the same thing about taking a cut out of FS. If that was not you, I apologize for jumping down your throat. You know how rumors get started though, I'm going to call my US Marshall buddy that specializes in trucker-shipper mediation and see what he thinks.
