He says he netted almost 100. But more than half his miles are MT. he would just sit at home and wait for that OS load, DH to it, do the load and then DH home if nothing over his min showed up. He said the most he was out was 10-days and that was because he sat for 5-days in KS because weather and couldn't move his load in KS when snowing.
He got his own authority and hauls direct for Cat.

Man that is why I want to get into OD OS stuff. Did he have a 4 axle truck and a flip down on his RGN or what?
-
Only three axle truck but flip down trailer. I was going to follow his lead then I saw the price of the trailer plus no contract on the loads. I could have run two loads and it could have been gone. And with no RGN experience I would just be the owner of an expensive trailer.
-
Those trailers are crazy expensive.
-
Got an RGN load I'm quoting right now. This one is all legal though.

I doubt it. I have no trailer rental. No other fees than $10 a week for qualcomm. That's it. Plus, not only getting .48 a mile FSC, but I got .52 off that cash pump price at Flying J in LaSalle, IL this morning. And no fee on the fuel card for the swipe.
So, I really doubt they are clearing more. I am a bean counting, spreadsheet running fool. I know my numbers. My net is such that I have to stash money in Health Savings Account and other little places to reduce the tax burden. Did goof last year on how much I paid on estimated taxes and got hit for another $5800. There are times like that I am not so sure I like my net.
But then, my net has been good enough that the hobby farm is paid for, the ag equipment is paid for, the personal vehicles are paid for, no credit card debt. And I am spec'ing out a 2013 FL glider truck right now. Just got the updated 16 page spec sheet back in my email tonight. And do they get by the house a couple of times a week (like I did tonight), off on the weekends, and home every holiday? Not from what I have seen up and down the highway. I doubt that I am working harder than them. -
FCC has a sliding scale compensation package starting at 1.20 ending at .85, their fsc this week is .46 cpm. They are a no touch co. when it comes to box freight.
My last load paid me 2.91 (including 1.00 p/m fsc) per mile the load I pick up fri. pays 2.26 (.47 fsc), I also get those same fuel discounts except they come from TA/Petro.
I could go farther back with regard to compensation but the numbers I show reflect the norm for me so what's the point. If I were at FCC pulling a flat the best I'd do is 1.49 per mile loaded not including tarp pay, flats make .03 more than box freight.
That free trailer isn't looking so free to me.
I forgot to mention these are legal loads.Last edited: Dec 6, 2011

See there. You can't compare your situation with rejects posting in this forum that aren't ready for a system like Landstar's. You're selling yourself short and your talent is wasted on FCC. You have the same trailer payment and fee's as a typical percentage paid driver that's refelected in the low rate. That home every weekend stuff isn't so great considering all the contract freight FCC has to get covered on a weekly basis. When times are busy you're lucky to get a 34 hour restart and that might mean getting home in the wee hours on a saturday right? Then they'll cry if you don't feel like leaving out when they're ready for you to go, right? Sound familiar? Did that for 11.5 years at a company very similar to FCC and know the game very well.

Rollin, you ain't making me money when you are sitting posting on the internet.
volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
I'm not knocking Cowpie, if his gig works for him cool, his post was ignorant so I felt it was my duty to correct him. All those evil fees that LS charges back to me amount to about $50.00 a week which at roughly 70,000 miles a year give or take comes to .03 cpm, I own my trailer, don't have Quallcom and yes I do spend time looking for my freight but at least I'm not paying a portion of my income to a load planner/dispatcher.
I don't have a new truck, I don't want a payment, I don't have a hobby farm as I never understood the concept of work as a hobby. I do have a new boat (pick it up in the spring) 4 sleds (paid for) and time to enjoy them, I have no car payment but am guilty of a balance on my credit card as I recently bought 8 tires and sled stuff.
The cheapest van load out my area (75 mi. of Green Bay) going to midwest only is netting 2.10 per mile including fsc, once again better than anything FCC does for Cowpie. It's almost tempting to buy a van.
