So I have tried to as a few landstar drivers how they like it while running down the road, like in most cases no one has their cb on and everything I run into them at a truckstop they are either away from their cab or asleep. So this post is for you Landstar guys. How do you like it and would it be worth the move over there. How often do they pay, can you book your own freight without using their load board if necessary? Is the health insurance they offer (from what I was told they have) any good being that you have to get your own policy? What are some of the hidden fees they have (if any), or are they all listed on the recruitment form?
Landstar??

Pretty worthless "help", right? Makes you wonder why they even tag him for input. Anyway, I'm an independent carrier who has hauled quite a bit for LS over the years. In my experience they are going downhill. They're allowing too many scumbags to come in and ruin their name with all the games, double brokering and low ball rates. I have exactly one office left I deal with today and that's dwindling away as well. There's a section here specifically for LS. Maybe you'd have better results asking there.
Landstar
Things may be different when you're leased to them directly but I never see good equipment pulling their trailers anymore. All I've been seeing is beat up trucks that look like they should have a port chassis hooked to them with the blue star on them now. IMO that's a major indicator of their current state. If you decide to lease on with them please come back and tell us about YOUR experience after you've been there a while.401-Alex, bzinger, kindastupid and 5 others Thank this. -
I've been with the star for 3 years... I'm happy
