Hello,
I have looked, but can't find anything direct, so I apologize if this has been addressed. I am a newer driver, about a year and a half under my belt. No crashes or citations and been in LTL. I have been reading a lot about Landstar and considering purchasing my own tractor and getting on with them. Has anyone worked there who can tell me what it is really like? Everything I find is all positive, but I don't want to change jobs just for the greener grass theory.
I am wanting more freedom with my schedule, no forced dispatch and decent wages. Not expecting to get rich, but want to pay my bills and feed my family. If this is not the place, any suggestions I'd appreciate.
Thanks.

If you're in LTL you'll do better than having your own truck.
Landstar is as good as any and better than most. Know that the on boarding process can take up to 2 months.
Good luck.Cwoodsmash Thanks this. -
First thing you need to know is that Landstar does not hire truck drivers, and as such, you will NOT have a "wage" at all. What you are paid is what you pay yourself out what is left over after all expenses are paid. The settlement from LS is a payment from one business to another. Look at Blue Ribbon Logistics on youtube for more info about what LandStar is and is not.Blue jeans, Keepforgettingmypassword, Cwoodsmash and 2 others Thank this.

Before you buy a truck. What are you making LTL? Who are you on with?
Maybe most importantly, where do you live?Old_n_gray Thanks this. -
If you give landstar any bad press at all they will fire you on the spot. That's why you don't see anything negative about them until people have left.....
