I pay 10% for the back office compliance stuff. Outside landstar, 10% is the norm. I could give you 5 companies I know of that only keep 10%. You ever see the trailers that say, "have you prayed today"? They only take 10% and give you a trailer too. That's why I am not at landstarve. They think their #### is worth more than anyone else. Even the other big guys only take 20% of spot rate.

My question was how much do you see a mile after they take their share.

For me, with a company van, it's typically about 70% of what the FB is to Landstarve.

Guys that do flats, and the moar exotic stuff get moar.

if you have your own van, I think you get 72% of the linehaul.

I'm not going to defend Landstarve to satify you or anyone else.

I'm done now.

It's an extremely competitive place. It's extremely difficult to stay here long term, because they are very strict.

At the same time, it's the most freedom you'll ever have, and if you're doing what you're supposed to, you'll never hear a peep from them.

They have very good fuel discounts, epic tire discounts, and you know your coin is in the bank every Thursday.

I've won the steer tires again, and have two new ones i need to pick up before March.

It's not a place for people that need their hand held, or that are not emotionally mature.

Which is what i said in one sentence in one post.

 

Landstar Express America which is the Expedite division and we get the least of all trucks at 62%. Best decision my wife and I have ever made 2.5 years ago. Like Dave said keep your nose clean and follow the rules you can do whatever you want.
