    Even when I was with them they were very anal about truck inspections and safety. When time came for your inspection they would shut you down if you forgot to have it inspected. If they found something wrong they would require you to have it repaired before putting you back in service. That can actually be a good thing. It forces owner operators to stay on top of maintenance. That reminds me. I need to have my truck inspected.:biggrin_2554:

    It has been a long time since I leased to Landsar, but I believe that orientation lasted 3 days. Back then, you were required to take your drug test before going to orientation. In orientation they covered how the Landstar system works, how to calculate your break even point and your cost per mile. It was very comprehensive. They also had a class that certified you where you could legally adjust your brakes in case you got shut down in a scale house. You would not need to wait on over priced road service to adjust your brakes. You could adjust them yourself and go about your business.

    I went through orientation in November last year. It was 2 days long. I know Landstar still has the brake class, but it is only offered in Jacksonville Fla. It is no longer required, but would be helpful.They spend the first day of Orientation going over defensive driving, then there is the Hazmat recert in the afternoon. Day 2 we had the "CABS" class to give you the basics of the LS system. This class is also required again after 90 days

    I've never worked for landstar, but called them and they sent me a packet, and the best average I could come up with, was about $1.08 cpm, adding dead head, dicide that leaving the company I with where i make an average of $1.32 cpm loaded and empty, oh yea, buy the way, landstar, you have to pay your own plates, and where Im at, the company pays for my plates, lumpers, scales, tolls

    Are u with FAF company by any chance? Its just sounds familiar when u mentioned what they pay for.
    $1.08 the best? I dont know where looking but i see at least twice more.

    being an A&E team we did most of our loading through pepper webber in okc, he was the only landstar agent that mccallister would deal with even ranger had to use him as a contact, there are alot of agents that have customers through out the united states the slc office has agents for inway ligon and ranger or they use to

    I started with Landstar in mid August, orientation is now 2 days and basically explains load board, ins and outs, etc

    I live in Knoxville, Tn. when I was applying for credit 5/3 bank could finance, but I also found out that if you are a member of a credit union, they have better flexibility than regular banks. I managed a 4% loan for my truck thru credit union.
