Who did you use to get your insurance? Blue cross directly? With the number of BCO's at LS I am disappointed the "company" does not get involved and work out a "deal" I am getting tired of paying out of pocket.

 

That would violate the contractor/employee gradient... Trust me, the agents feel the same pain you do. I wish we could start an organization or conglomerate of agents and bcos that would afford us group health insurance rates.

 

There's no way to tell because no one dispatches you. You're not a driver any longer...you're a business owner.

 

You can. Contact a BC/BS or other agent from an insurance company and start one. Then just start spreading the word.

The more you have to start, the better off you'd be.

If you have a newsletter, submit it to the BCO/agents that way.

 

Well try this again. If you read my post from two days ago I asked if I could avg $1.43 per mile. That I run a steady run from MI to FL leave Tuesday return Sat. After 5 months of all the bs I'm going to orentation Tues 4/3/2012 just want to make sure this is a good fit. Fully understand about picking loads this is not my frist trip. I have been doing this for 38 years. Just want a simple answer but I know it be anything but that. See I want to work more not just a four day work week. Plus if I want a day off I end taking the whole week off cause my run only leaves on Tuesday. Also I own my trailer a 53 ft dry van for this milage rate. Only hope someone can give me a better undertanding of avg pay rate with a van.

 

What you are asking is difficult to answer. Agents have different rates. There could be more than one agent who has the same load and at a different rate. The lanes that you run will also impact your rates. I would suggest that you get in touch with your recruiter or when you get to orientation have them pull up some rates and freight availability on the travel lanes that you want to run. You could also go to www.landstarbroker.com and see what is available. Rates are not usually listed since this is a public board, but you could call some agents who have loads that you are interested in hauling. Another thing to remember is that rates can vary from one time of year to another. But, you should be able to get an idea of current rates if you contact those that I mentioned.

funny, some outfits can tell you in a second what the entire fleet is avg, loaded and empty per mile and what each individual contractor has done at any point in the year.

i can call and get my current avg per mile for all miles and my avg weekly gross, my gross for the year to date, my monthly avg gross, my weekly avg gross, i can also be told where i rank against all other flats, or steps, or vans and steps combined.

i am amazed every company cant do this.

That is my thought to. I know my cost and avg. per mile Landstar got to know fleet avg and so on. I have talk to recuiting many times get the same answer every one is different. I have got the load sheets. loads are all over the place from 83 to 309 a mile. Done two webinars and still I'm not seeing a clear picture of the avg you can do here. Is it me or does seem like there something missing. It like come to work here then we will tell you the whole story. To the agent I run out of the Toledo OH area.
