He's not asking Landstar corporate, who has access to that info. He's asking on forum, a public one at that. Not only that, but a lot of BCO's are more interested in freedom than efficiency in turning out every dime possible in a year. I've decided not to work today and only ran one day last week. I didn't call anybody, didn't piss off a dispatcher, etc. The first company I was leased to, you had to tiptoe around a couple of the dispatchers and make them happy doing ####e work sometimes. Not here. This is running you're own authority, without the compliance and paperwork issues, but for that you trade only using Landstar agents.

You can make whatever you want here. The picky you are on rate, the more likely you'll have to hunt for loads though. Once you identify the area or lane you want to run and start forging relationships with the agents you'll see your cpm start rising. $1.43 and alot more is easily doable with your own trailer and a good lane. I did $2.12 last year with a stepdeck, with less than 5% oversize loads. No one here can give you an average rate because there isn't one, per say. Every driver's goals and abilities are different here. If you're a runner and know how to manage your business, you'll do fine. There are many Landstar tools that help you be successful, but it is up to you and your abilities to analyze and make decisions. A poor decision maker won't last very long here, as there are bad loads posted every day in every area. Sift through them and you'll find the freight you want on your trailer. You may want to consider getting some blankets and a belly box, maybe some walk ramps. The more specialized you get, the higher the cpm. Good luck.LSAgentOZR and terryt Thank this.

I'm sorry in advance for such a stupid question but I'm interested in the O/O side of things and how Landstar works. If you own your tractor does Landstar provide the trailer or do you need your own? If you have your own can you run with it for Landstar? Thank you and please be gentle. LOL

You can either lease a trailer from Landstar or provide your own. It's a long process getting on board, but worth it. If you're interested in more information or getting in touch with the recruiting department, shoot me an email or private message.

he said he has asked about the avg rate at recruiting.
i am aware that on every avg there will be some that are higher and some lower.
but a fleetwide avg would give a baseline to work with.
i to can take off when i want and set my own schedule, LS aint the only one with that deal.
but if your only problem is holes in the trailer top, you got a deal that is set and you know what to expect, i say patch the holes and roll. -
Awesome I'll shoot you a pm here shortly for some details. Thank you.

Yes they tore the crap out of my trailer and this week was my last trip. Just want to say I'm very impressed at my first day at orientation and really think I'm going to fit in well with Landstar. Very impressed with the all tools on there web site and all the loads. Well I'm not second guessing my choice this was the right move.

Well i have all the paperwork faxed only thing left to do is get the truck inspected and drug test. Still it will be a couple of weeks the truck has to have a few air leaks fixed so the inspection will be done around the 16th. The 2290 was pro rated starting may 1 so i cant put it into service until then. Jess and i are looking forward to joining landstar.
