Many of today's trucks have a life of 20 years or longer. I know of one company that has older trucks. Some have had engines overhauled several times and they are still in service with several million miles. Bushings and other components have also been replaced, but it can be much less costly to repair an older truck than to buy new. Buying some of the newer engines may also result in lower mpg's. That can be a huge expense with current fuel prices.

thanks everyone I will keep that in mind and look at different options. Thee Volvo is from Salem Leasing and has been with the same company since it was new I have all the paerwork on what has been done to it.
-
Buy the volvo, have someone disable the EGR, don't go to California. That will probably be your best bet for fuel mileage.
-
thanks RizenPhoenix that sounds like a good option to do I am not going to Ca anyhow I have not been there and I have no ties to the land of the weird

If the Volvo is white with dark gray on the bottom, they are old Century Furniture trucks, and have been taken much better care of than most of Salem's trucks. Salem is hit and miss on which trucks get the most maintenance, mostly according to who the trucks were leased to or if in the daily rental fleet.
popcorn169 and The Challenger Thank this. -
That is the truck but it is sold but another one came in from Century Furniture but is solid white. I am glad that the trucks have been taken care of. Thanks for the input.

I took into consideration the face you are from VA. If you location would have indicated west coast the advice might have been different.popcorn169 Thanks this.

I am looking to begin LS in a couple weeks and will be picking up my truck in Kansas City, the orientation centers that are within about equal range are Grand Prairie, Tx. and Rockford, Il. both about 500 miles from KC, question is which one is a better facility to come out of for getting a good paying load on average? I know they are both huge markets but "typically" whats the opinion of the 2?
-
Better paying freight out of IL and Rockford is a way nicer facility. Plus if you have any paperwork issues, corporate is just an elevator ride away.Vegas Reaper Thanks this. -
Gotta a question, is there more stuff on another loadboard besides the landstarbroker.com board?? all i see on that board is a bunch of lumber frieght and the knock in virginia/nc for years has been that lumber doesn't pay well..
