    Great attitude VR. It is refreshing to hear someone with a positive attitude in this industry. They say the difference is just 1 degree. And often that extra degree is in the attitude.

    Pulling out of Vegas, more power to ya. I wouldn't want to be securing in the summer. But I am sure you say the same thing about securing in the snow.

    Popcorn, you don't have a truck yet? Have you run as an O/O before? Do not pull the trigger on buying a truck, if you are financing, put a down payment (with the condition that you can get leased to LS or your money back), get financing in place and the re-check with LS.

    I am sure others that have been through this can tell you what the time frame is but your approval will expire and they will need to re-approve. Or they may have told you a date. This is standard for most companies.

    Regarding your question about income and going O/O. I am an optimistic person and know an O/O can clear 6-figures. But these are the hard chargers that are looking for that extra edge all the time. You have to be honest with yourself on what your personality is. You are jumping into the deep end with LS. They have some of the best flatbed freight around. But it will be an opportunity and what you make of it is up to you.

    But be honest with yourself. If you are truly self motivated then you should do great. If you need the regular kick in the pants then I would stay with the $60k company job.

    No company with as many trailers as we have can keep up with all of them. The batteries in the SkyBitz die, stuff changes on the fly. It's a dynamic area of problem solving. Do I think we do the best job? Not especially...but our people do good with the tools given to them. They only keep a certain number of trailers as well and retire trailers frequently to keep high maintenance equipment.

    Couldn't agree more. VR has a great attitude and I salute him for it.

    That's a smart answer. Always keep the cards in your favor. Check those sites I pm'ed you about in regards to our conversation. Our BCO's tend to take very good care of their rigs.

    Because I don't have a dog? I don't work in utilization fella and they frustrate me just as much as they do the drivers. You know I've been waiting for 3 weeks to get trailers spotted in OH and CAN?

    Good trailers are cheap. For the most part isn't the better paying freight live load/unload? And with the increased percentage you can make it up in a short period of time. Get your own trailer and all this is a non-issue.

    Ah, you must be in the "I need more miles to earn" camp. To me it is about what goes into the checking account at the end of the week. And in general (yes, there are exceptions) drop and hook doesn't pay as well. And if you are doing it right you should never have to worry about hours.

    If you are having to worry about hours on a weekly basis you need to stop and evaluate what you are doing. Some of the best earning O/O's never have to worry about the 11, 14 or 70 hour rules. They just don't have to work that hard and are making $80k (and $100k on years like this one).
