I run the 5 through Tejon quite a bit.....You just have to "play by the rules"....
It's frustrating to get stuck behind low hp rigs....but I'd rather get stuck and wait to pass legal than get nailed.....

What is irritating me lately are the big trucks NOT using the upper truck bypass on I-5 NB, just a couple miles south of the 210 junction...for some reason they just cruise right along with 4 wheelers on the main road. Is it really so hard to just follow the rules of the road?
Oh yes and lets not forget the SLOW trucks using the fast lane climbing the steep grade after the 14 split...causing every truck to a 15-20moh crawl up to the top...then the race is on when the slow lane ends and down that first hill into Castaic...there is going to be a really bad accident in that area someday for sure! -
What about all of the 4-Wheelers that use the truck bypass?
Where's CHP on this? -
There's the rub...4 wheelers have ALL lanes available...and we are restricted everywhere we go. but, on the other hand...4 wheelers obviously can't/don't read signs....I guess this is proof that...IGNORANCE IS BLISS!
-
The four wheeler consider that by pass as there own personal raceway. I love to block the NB four wheelers into the left lane till there past the 14 split.
-
Now speaking about "impeding traffic" and about 900 miles to the N/E....
Anyone hear about CDOT enforcing that minimum speed on Vail? -
-
Yeah I know......
What I hate is going S/B on the 5/14/210 split....that second tunnel where the speed is reduced to 35 mph....and sometimes the contractor has it reduced to one lane....
Friggin' 4-wheelers will shoot by us running 65+ to get in front of us.....then realize there's more rigs in front and brake check hard.... -
seen one guy get so mad he started passing on the right in the break down lane
That always makes us look good in the eyes of the 4 wheelers

CASTAIC -- A fiery crash involving two big rigs caused a major traffic jam and a small brush fire along Interstate 5 in the Castaic area Monday.
The crash was reported around 6 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Templin Highway.
One big rig rear-ended another and both erupted into flames, according to California Highway Patrol officer Patrick Kimball.
The flames quickly spread to a refrigerated trailer, which was believed to be hauling eggs.
Nearby brush also caught fire but the blaze was contained to about a quarter of an acre, Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Frank Reynoso told KTLA.
