Laptop? Anything with a full size keyboard (including 10-key) & touch screen (for signing) ought to do fine if you're not dropping it off ladders.

I use a brother printer with wifi, only used it twice, but it is mainly there so I can print my elogs if need be.

Scanner I use a doxie portable
You can just use the adobe acrobat app now -- they finally integrated the fill & sign features...

I am not on the road any more but I hardly ever use my scanner. If I need to scan something I just take a picture of it using my smart phone and print it to my wireless printer. Not to say you don't need one, but space was always a precious commodity to me when I was in my truck....

I took my big laser jet from my office. Was little overkill but worked like champ. It is a brothers. Was only black though.

i have both the desk top and portable neat reciept... BUT i did get a he!! of a deal on the pair 3 years ago when staples had a sale going on. the pair was $275
desk top at home for the wife to use... she uses it for everything and dam it fast (15 pages scanned in under 30 sec.) like a transflo scanner at the truckstops
portable in the truck for me to use, it's about the size of the paper tube INSIDE a roll of paper towels
takes less than 5 mins to set it up and scan everything at the end of the day then when i get home i just copy it to a flash drive and give it to the wife and she just paste it into the home system

i keep the portable in this case in the truck...... holds the scanner and the cord.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...gclid=CLjhi8L4v8kCFVA2gQodGkIDhA&gclsrc=aw.ds

    Turboscan app

You take 3 pictures then you can adjust it some then email as a pdf. Works great but can be a little time consuming if you have a lot of pages
I also have efax but don't use it much since turboscan
I also use an app called docusign I think that's the name. Or another is cudasign for signing any papers from my iPhone while on the road

Any laptop should be fine. As long as it has a keyboard and a screen.
For printing I use a brother mobile printer, like the SP use. Have it set up for wireless. Thermal printer so no ink. New cost is about $300. Black only which is fine.
I also have a normal printer/scanner for the scanning. Cheaper than a mobile scanner. Set up wireless.

Phone and tablet, wireless all-in-one printer (HP 2540 ~$45), CamScanner app... didn't find anything I couldn't do and I was doing a lot of long distance and cross border oversized. I could have done it all with just the phone, but it is nice to have a larger screen when doing more reading on down-time.

At home I have a dedicated scanner for doing higher volume scanning, but while on the road space is at a premium and the constant vibration and shaking can wreak havoc on electronics.
