They were bought by HP a few years back. I've looked around a bit and have read that even Dell doesn't ship with the OS install CD's- unless you pay for them. I've read it's a extra $10.00, which is cheap- when you need it.

Since when? Dell always installs the OS for you for free - or always did. Is this new?

We were discussing the OS install CD's being provided with the purchase of a new laptop- not the OS being installed at purchase. For most if not all laptop assemblers, the OS back up path was/is provided on a "hidden" partition of the primary drive. The system came/comes with a rescue CD that read/reads that partition in order to fix problems on the primary partition. All of which is useless if your drive crashes or if you like to format the drive and perform a fresh install every couple of years. -
Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. Well, I bought a Dell laptop last summer and they sent me a complete CD so I could reinstall everything if I needed to and it didn't cost me a cent. Mind you, I did have to ASK for it - they don't automatically send it out any more but I did ask for it and they sent it out, no charge.

Is there a prepaid cellular card? What about prepaid wireless hotspots>
