You can buy MIL-STD 810F certified for around $1500.00, there are some models that are way up in price but the bottom of the line MIL-STD 810F is better than ANY laptop that you can buy from the mass marketed manufacturers in regards to durability and upgradeability.

No I don't. I don't advertise or sell on here or to members here. It would cause more headaches than it's worth, I come here to enjoy myself and contribute what I can. If I was an advertiser or vendor then I wouldn't enjoy it here. I am NOT set up as a vendor/ advertiser here for that reason and besides that would be a violation of the rules. Thanks for asking.

You don't want to go to Best Buy in any case, I personally don't like any of the systems they have. I'd take a look at that Dell online or check out CDW online for other major brands. PC's brands are pretty close to the same right now, the most important thing is how do you get it serviced? And Dell has a pretty good reputation for support.

My Alienware Aurora M9700 seems to handle life in the truck just fine....and handles any game I'm playing to boot

the $3,500 price tag was a little hard to swallow, but gaming and portability don't come cheap

My two cents worth: If you are planning on using a laptop mount, make sure you get one that bolts to the floor of the pass seat, instead of using the pass seat brackets due to the constant vibration, your unit will be sure to fail rather quickly. I have found that other drivers I work with say stay away from Dell,Sony,HP,Gateway. I make it a practice to visit the High End Specialty stores before making a choice to see what's available. Fry's and Micro Electronics are 2 that are larger chains. Also,a friend that builds his own recommends Toughbooks by Panasonic or the new Mac Pro used with Windows XP,not Vista. You can load Windows XP onto new Mac machines with ease with their new software. Long story short, the Toughbooks and the like are more expensive, but they work great and will keep on working great for years. Why spend $1000-$1500 every 2 years or sooner when your hard drive crashes or LCD sreen cracks from vibration? The Mac's have stunning color, clearity and speed. And the best part, they don't crash every 2 days. The 15" units fit nicely with most of the popular mounts, and watching DVD movies is a real treat!

All these dell users .... DO NOT BUY DELL unless everytime you have computer problems you enjoy talking to people from india. There are 100's of computer boutiques now in the US that make the same computers as dell with 1000X better customer service... Dell HP Compaq Alienware NW Falcon all buy their laptop chassis from the same source.... if u want a great computers with 100% american customer service buy from rjtech.com or killernotebooks.com... Killernotebook is run by this guy named mark in appleton,wi does all his own CSR. In the last 8 years I've owned 3 alienwares 2 sonys and a dell ..... Alienware was a great laptop company until dell bought them out and outsourced their customer service.Next time you want to buy a computer check resellerrating.com

Not at all...at least not completely.

I use an HP zv5000. Which is currently over 2 years old. I've never had a failure on it. It goes on the truck with me, then to the house when I'm off it.

It sits nicely in the FREE seat that my company provided on the right side of the truck. Held only in place by 2 slim bungee cords.

When not in use, it rides nicely in a foam lined briefcase. Purchased at Pilot. Foam from Wal-Mart added. :) It's fallen off the TOP bunk twice...when a DA co-driver placed it there.

Yup...I know it's not Top Of the Line by some folks measure.... But it's 3.2 Pent 4 with 1 gig Ram works fine for my needs. Just wish I had popped for the 256 meg video card model :(

An extended warrantee is very important!!! The biggest problem is you have to send it in and can take some time to get it back. The last time it took about 10 days. The problem is I had to go to a fed ex location and sign for it. So if you are out of town it sucks.

I buy HP, my freinds buy dell.

I must say HP gives you a better computer than dell. They usually have lots of trouble, not warranty probs. Mostly becouse they are kinda rinky-dink.
