You don't need a new hard drive. Mine worked great for the months I was OTR. I always had it on a laptop tray so it didn't ever bounce but the lid sure took abuse - the hinges are loose now. If I had to get a stand, I'd get one like the police use and make sure the lid is velcroed in place when it's open so it doesn't ruin the hinges.
The only time you'd damage a hard drive is if it actually bounced - then you'd be in trouble.

I merely advised .when buyuing a new unit to upgrade to a ssd from the standard platter based models which can be damaged and corrupted by shock and vibration.
A few months only the lid isnt working good for you imagine after a year or so .
a rugged laptop is just that and the definition of a rugged application also applies to transportation.
rugged and semi rugged laptops have special features such as areal shock mounted hard drive as well as a magnesium and other materials for the chassis to further dampen shock and vibration also many units also have software that will stop the hardrive when exc3ssive shock and vibration is detected.
Just look at police cars they go down the road they have rugged laptops
So to my fellow drivers i once again advise dont spend your money on a fancy cb spend it on a nice laptop .
or have fun and build it your self. -
I've heard they also build laptops now that you can drop but I imagine they're very expensive - but they'd definitely last you a loooong time.
And the lid isn't ruined but it's definitely loose. I would have purchased a stand if I were to continue to use it.
Do they even offer the new hard drives in laptops yet? I have a portable one and it's great. It never fails. -

I was not plain with my question. When I am parked, is there laptop stand that I can buy that better than others? My laptop manufacturer says the bottom gets hot after awhile!

Which is best? If you have one or the other, which do you like best? Is the Jotto sturdy enough? Places to purchase the Jotto?
Thanks.
