I suggest keeping valuable information off of your computers, always save it on usb drives or other portable un-plugging hardware with the sole purpose of storage.
Keep your programs original discs' in a safe place along with their respective "keys".
Yours, his, hers, and my computer will one day get a virus or other and there's no way to prevent it, just time.

That's one thing I wasn't worried about is the files stored in my hardrive because there wasn't any.Just the outrageous cost to have it fixed.

That's why it is never a good idea to store users' id's- passwords on your browser nor doc files.
Emails are also constantly under attack, so we can prevent a lot by not opening emails from untrusted sources.

I got one of those emails just last week and reported them to my email account. They said they needed all my banking information because my account has been locked.I might have been born at night but not last night.
