    Howdy,

I'm not a trucker, but I have a child who LOVES trucks and we watch YouTube videos every night with trucks. One thing he really likes is large loads in which two tractors are either both pulling or pulling/pushing a large load.

Question: under this setup, are the throttles/brakes of the two tractors somehow tied together/synchronized? I always wonder how one truck may be giving partial throttle while the other is gunning it, wondering why the load won't accelerate; alternately, I wonder how one doesn't brake while the other accelerates and neither knows why the load isn't responding as desired.

Are the tractors integrated somehow or is it all just radio communications to choreograph everything?

    Thanks!

It is called team work on a push/ pull setup.
The drivers are in radio contact with each other. They do not shift at the same time either. You do that and you can end up with a load stuck on a hill as you are losing your forward motion.
A lot of the big trucks that are called prime movers are going to like 64 gear autos.
The lead truck will tell the rear trk. when to start braking or give it throttle.
Hope that answers some of your questions

    AceRider Thanks this.
