So any tips on this? The center of gravity on this thing seems to be on the foot where the hydraulic lift is. Still it’s going to be offset on my trailer. There’s two points on the top I can hook chains to to secure off the left side. The right though is going to be tricky since that hydraulic tank is there. They can’t remove the rack that’s on the right side hanging off. Weighs about 20,000. It was one of those “be here by 1:00 because the crane will be ready.” The crane guys don’t even have a plan how to pick it yet, and it’s now 1:45. I hate getting into these situations.

Chain it any way you can. That thing is super floppy and tippy. The mass seems to be the center table it's center of gravity will be about 8 inches above that. Chain low and high any way you can. Pad the hell out of that too. It is a seriously precision instrument (Go ahead laugh, it IS....) bury it in chain and strap. Also padded beyond reason.
Never mind the stupid crane, thats not your pressure except being where it's waiting for you HOPEFULLY. Just be there at the stroke of your appt. -
My appointment was at 1:00. I showed up at 12:55. The crane crew is still trying to get it on some dollies to wheel it out of the shop because their boom truck won’t fit. So an hour of waiting so far. There’s hardly any spots to chain it. I might have to bail out.

Chains where you can. Straps with protectors for the rest. Think I would try to feed straps through the top. Two over and back through pulling to one side. And another two over and through on the other side to take that tip out of the equation. But might not be possible.

DO not use that electric motor casing as a anchor. Let it float free with maybe a soft strap side to side over the top of it. But not tight but enough to maybe take hold firmly if she got floppy on your turns.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
You see the upper frame at the right, that is where you want to chain it from. They are going to take the back gauge off?
Don't know if you want to do this but, 1/2 or 5/8 bolts with backers through the deck would be a great plus.
Stevex1Heavy Thanks this. -
I would chain on the legs pulling toward the center from each end. If the foot sitting on dunnage had a ledge to keep it on.
Watch it close so the wood doesn't vibrate out. Put some nails to hold it in placeLepton1 and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
Put some protection on the straps on the frame you have on deck.
Can you put chains just above the shear table on both ends, dog ear kinda?
Right side of trailer to left.
Did they drain the fluid, if not you might have a mess during transit. -
I didn’t put carpet on the curb side of the straps since it’s pretty well rounded over. I’m not familiar with these machines. What part is the sheer table you speak of for some chains?
