i have been heavily considering lasik. my optometrist is promoting it. i am afraid of it obscuring my vision and me not being able to drive. i have needed glasses/contacts since age 10, i am 35 now. same prescription (-4 contact, both eyes) since the beginning. i have no issues now with light or night time driving. i currently run linehaul at night and plan on doing so indefinitely. basically, now with corrective lenses, i feel as though my vision is as close to perfect that it can get in all situations. i am afraid to lose that despite needing glasses. all in - i spend roughly 1k a year on eye care.

Wouldn't do it if you paid me to. Prefer to wear glasses and be SAFE. Had a buddy (as others have posted similar stories) who was fine with glasses, he could drive in the day or at night. He got the laser eye surgery and can't see at night to drive. But he does anyways but says everything is a blur. No, he doesn't have a CDL but let that be a lesson. He should be legally banned from night driving but does it anyways, told me so himself. If you can't see anymore and then and only then should one consider this "surgery".

I have 20/15 in one eye and 20/20 in the other and I wear a very strong prescription. But I have NO plans to get a laser in my eyes anytime soon.
