What about food, clothes, ect? Takes a cheapskate about 150.00 a week to be on the road. Need to keep that in the numbers.

I am just wondering about taxes social security workers comp
you know all them quarterly Govt bills you gotta pay too -
Funny, my posts keep getting flagged, feels like Park it, & bring the permits with you. If I am not allowed to speak the real world about trucking I don't need to be here. We are not girl scouts, this is a low paying job, hard hours, dangerous thing to do. I love it so. Takes super skills, emminse knowledge, & timing. If I am supposed to tell people it's like going to get Do Nut's for the family, I don't belong here. It's the most rewarding life I would have, I would not change a thing. I have seen all of America, most of Canada, & met about every kind of people their is to meet. These folks are kind enough to let be share my expert travels. I don't lie, or sugar coat anything. I'm just an old Trucker.

Business expenses are business expenses and personal expenses are personal expenses. Why on earth would any real business person build personal expenses into a business overhead? Not saying ignore your personal expenses but they should not come into a conversation about what it costs to run a truck. These are in the conversation about if you business makes enough to support you life.
Ezrider_48501, blackbirdandson, kw600 and 2 others Thank this. -
Bill, agreed. I met a guy who calculated his mortgage and wifes car payment in his pro forma, i can see ehy he did it but I never really thought you were supposed to do that. Keep business business, personal personal, pay yourself right?
BigBadBill Thanks this. -
When I factoring in personal expenses, it's based on how much profit I want. Just as I calculate my taxes after I figured my profit.
Revenue minus expenses equals Profit
Profit minus taxes, insurance, etc equals Take Home Pay
Take Home Pay minus personal expenses equals Fun Money -
Fun money plus wife equals no moneySly Fox and BigBadBill Thank this.

June was a little less than I had hoped for. $21,114.28 on 9939 miles. I don't know if claims of net are all that meaningful since apparently everyone calculates that differently.

personal expenses are not counted as business expenses.
uncle sams cut isnt calculated were not talking take home pay were talking revenue vrs receipts for money spent during the month. its more or less a preformace evaluation. not a take home pay minus butt wipe deodorant and pizza and household bills.
now obviously its not a super hard number just what i spent vrs what was invoiced.
usage on wear items such and breaks and tires and belts is not factored in
under my parts and repairs last month
i had repaired a couple air lines
replaced a wheel seal and bearing
replaced fan clutch
new cab shocks
had the truck serviced
and had a valve stem on a tire repaired
replaced muffler
most items where repaired/replaced myself so only parts included no labor (and no im not going to calculate myself a hourly mechanics rate) as i saved $100 an hour on not having a shop do the work so there for i have already been paid for it by not spending it)
