What were you hauling? Did it require a lumper?
I had a load I was delivering to an Aldi Foods but was not given an appointment time. I showed up at 10:00 am and the manager told me the lumpers had already gone home and told me that I would have to get it rescheduled for the next morning or unload it myself.
Me not being a patient person, it didnt take long for me to ask him where the electric fork lift was. Unloaded it by myself and was done in 30 minutes, closed the doors and said cya. Some grocery warehouses will let you unload it yourself if you show up late and no lumpers are around.
Keep in mind that if your around a big city or have to go by one then give yourself ample time if you have to drive it during rush hour. Ive showed up at a customer 2 hours early before just because I wanted to beat the rush hour traffic, e.g. Atlanta on the 285 and Orlando on the I-4.
Figure out how long it will take to get where your going and add and hour to that time.

I do not have the proper endorsements on my cdl to unload the trailer I never found the test for the endorsment to be a lumper.:biggrin_255:
Besides the company I worked for said they pay drivers to drive not to unload their trucks.
That is why I am going back next year.
They will pay the driver to unload if the driver so wishes too the problem I have is they pay less to the driver than to the lumper.
I know why don't I make up a receipt to get more money the problem is they have a relationship with most places were we go and know what the recipts should look like when turning them in.
I may later on just unload my truck myself depending on the load if they are taking too long to get to me.
If it is just a few pallets and they are light then I probaly will do it for the extra 35.00 if it will save me time on my 14 hour clock.
