Get rid of the head and use an early acert head. And either cut the bowels in the pistons or get the 7172 piston packs. They are a lower compression piston.

It's a little late for that now. Heads already on and I'm starting to put crap back on the motor. Swap out to the old style oil cooler, get rid of that big clunky thing.
I'm not sure why the old head and lower compression would be better? As it was, even with my motor not running right... I was getting better fuel mileage then the guys with the mxs and a guy with a nxs. My motor being rebuilt is no fault of the head.Superhauler Thanks this. -
Lower comp pistons will cause less stress on the head gasket and head bolts. Ard heads are problematic, but to late now. Hope you have good luck with the rebuild.dustinbrock Thanks this.

Ahhhh I see. Ard head is not a issue, works so well that it's almost like it's not there!
And I too hope I have good luck with it, I'm sparing no expense this time so fingers crossed. -
Because the newer ('07-10) head and high compression pistons are good for 600K and 500HP, if you want a million miles and 800 HP go the other route.
