Got 4 days off and began my trip on mon.The load had 3 stops but it was relayed to terminal, which was nice. All the stops are unloads and driver asst.Ellenwood GA to Cranbury NJ,Nashua NH and Greenland NH.Got plenty of time final 2 stops are for 6-2 0600 and 1100.At Cranbury tonight,My plan was to drive from Ellenwood to Richmond VA and get to my fuel stop.No problem...Got in and fueled up in the morning about 0730.Got on the road and hit that 95 N bus accident. That was bad..Then cleared that and hit another accident on 495..Crap the plan was to get to Cranbury NJ at 1400 and take my 10 at C..Had a 0300 appt and would just hit the road after maybe even catch the GW bridge before primetime..Well got here at 1900 and talked to security, which I was told the WH opens up at 2000 and they may take me early..They did and Im doing my 10..Very nice that they got me unloaded and really didnt mind the driver asst, not hard and was a nice change.Tomorrow Ill ask disp if I can bypass the GW and take 287,it does add 45 mi to the trip but less headache...I do have all day to get 280 mi in so they might say no dice and ill sit in that horible NY traffic.I have to turn my CB off because its prob the worst place in the country to have it on..lol
I have a feeling a Canada run is in my future after this load..Well it had to happen somtime.

    Hey Hamsterock
Just catching up with you! Congrats on your daughter's graduation from school and the Coast Guard! My (step) son went in when he was 18 and is now 32-he is currently Chief in Philly and was in Rochester also Chief previous to that for 2 years. Almost 4 years as Chief! Prior to that he was 2nd in command in Rochester. Started in Cleveland, to Alaska (Seward) then to Washington State. He is hoping to retire when he is in his 40's and start his ''2nd career.'' He is currently also working on his Bachlors degree (given 2 yrs life credit) at Univ of Phoenix in business. BEST THING he has ever done and it has been the best for him too!! I hope your daughter has the same great experience!!

You are going on vacation soon right? Bet you can't wait and if your daughter rides with you in June I hope you have a blast!!!

Hey Hamsterrock -- I've been reading your thread all the way from the beginning. Thanks for the solid recaps, ups and downs, tips and tricks, etc. I'm not even a newbie -- just an upcoming student -- but it is great to "watch" someone go from trainee to fleet driver, quite successfully. Nice work.

Quiet night in Cranbury NJ,I actually really dig that place.NJ gets a bad rap.Pulled out at 0800,yes a little late but wanted to avoid traffic.Got to the 1st service plaza and sent a message to my FM,asking to bypass the GW and take 287 instead,as I suspected FM said I have plenty of time and to stick to route.I answerd copy..lol..So took the GW at 1000 and had minor traffic delays.Basically normal GW drama..Got to Nashua at 1400 and was told that they dont take loads till 0530 my appt was at 0600 so no prob.Called ahead and asked if there was overnight parking here and was told there is plenty..Nice! wasnt disapointed when I got here.
I would recemend calling shipper or reciever and getting what ever info you need.My GPS and directions were spot on but they dont tell you if you can park overnight.
My last stop tomorrow I know there is a TA near by so Ill just run for that after I am done.Hopfully will have a preplan by then, hmm maybe a sweet load to Arizona or Vegas! Its an ongoing fantasy but we must hope..

Have you had the chance yet to run out west? The driving out there is nice. Wide open spaces. Speaking of Arizona, if you find yourself driving through Flagstaff on I-40 (a very nice drive) there is a Pilot at exit 185, which is actually in Bellmont, AZ (just west of Flagstaff). Anyway, on the opposite side of the freeway at the same exit is a Harley shop that has truck parking and right next to the Harley shop is a really good restaurant. Steaks, burgers, etc. I'd recommend stopping if you have the time. You may not be in to Harleys, but you could always get me a t-shirt. :)

    Be safe out there.

Next time your going to park at your fuel stop, fuel in the morning and combine it with your 15 minute pre-trip. Save you a few hours
