    Man, what a week.....

Ol' Hoss blew an ECM Module in Iowa coming out of Nebraska, and I ended up in another LC truck for the remainder of my "sorty".

Ran a load into NJ, which was a MAJOR TRIP. I find it really interesting the different personalties and attitudes and how they tie into different geographics. I can honestly say that I have removed NJ from the list of places I would want to live.

But my boys in Dispatch got me reloaded almost immediately, and ran me down to VA. Delivered in VA this morning, and now I am home, enjoying my new digs in Mount Airy. Man I love this place.

Probably heading out Wednesday for CO. I will be swinging through KC to switch back into Hoss.

Sure do miss that old boy.....

Sounds like an adventure to say the least. I will be dropping down Fancy Gap tomorrow (Tues) late afternoon with a dedicated dry bulk load that we are allowed to weigh in and drop at P&G in Browns Summit. That means no delivery appointment so I have a relaxed schedule.

I will give you a holler on the phone tomorrow and maybe stop at Brintles on the way in for a cup of coffee. Hopefully dispatch won't ruin my plan with a tight turn around for Wed morning.

I tried to give you a call this afternoon. I must have the wrong cell phone number in my phone. Oh well maybe next time.

ScooterDawg, how would you rate LC to date? Their recruiter came to the SAGE school in Yadkinville today and as a newbie to trucking I was impressed. I live in Rural Hall just down the road so it's a quick 45-minute drive for me to get to the Mt. Airy terminal. I'm journaling my experience with the SAGE school here at The Truckers Report (just search 'Newbie Journal with SAGE School) and WSYROB gave me the link to your post about LC.

A recruiter from Magnum came by before our lunch break, and I know you were with them too. How was their outfit compared to LC? For a newbie who needs a lot of mentoring, who would you recommend? I felt like the recruiter wasn't showing all his cards during the presentation.

Hands down..... LC. Not saying that because I am here now..... I'm saying it because I know the difference. You might get a week or two of training at Magnum. You will get up to 12 weeks at LC. Its a no-brainer

ScooterDawg, can you share with me what an average week with LC might be like if doing the FedEx runs? I filled out my app with them today, but SAGE probably won't get it sent off for me until Friday or next Tuesday. I'd also like to go up and visit the terminal and see the equipment their offering if possible. Leave me a PM if you prefer.

    Hey Bud -
An average week with FedEx? Don't know as there is an answer to that. Honestly, I ran on the FedEx side of the company during the holidays, and we were smokin'! After the holidays, I was assigned to the "Colorado side" of the company, doing long haul work. I have talked to some other drivers and they seem to be pleased with the miles and hometime they are getting with FedEx.

Starting this week, I was blessed with being re-assigned to the UPS side of the company, and so far, I am loving it. There are no JIT loads (Just In Time), just casual, easy driving with drop and hook trailers. There are live loads from time to time, but they are supposedly few and far between.

Running the FedEx is a good way to get started. It is mostly night driving, and you frequent various FedEx terminals, but it is a good way to cut your teeth.... at least in my opinion.

As far as visiting the terminal, I don't think that would be a problem at all. Everyone there is quite personable and friendly. It's not a big place, but again, that is a good thing. Everyone knows who you are, and that makes it a lot easier to work as a team. There is something to be said for working for a smaller outfit in this industry.

Call up there and talked to Dale. I'm sure he would be glad to spend a few minutes with you. And it wouldn't hurt your chances of getting your foot in the door either. There is no recruiting bonus in it for me if you get hired, so whether or not you mention me is up to you.

Good luck and let me know how it goes...
