Whoever said flat beds don't have to back has never backed from a busy street onto a crowded construction site, usually into the basement. Who ever said putting on tarps is easy, isn't 61 like me. Still, flat bedding is the most interesting kind of driving. Don't think I will change.

It amazes me, where did this idea that flatbedders don't back up come from? I've bumped docks with 'em before. Hauled used oil-filters out of an environmental services company to scrap. Loaded 'em in tall bins, back a flatbed up to the dock and they'd forklift 'em out onto the flatbed. The strapping can be difficult. The more unusual the load gets, typically the more unusual your chaining technique may become. You'll be backing up with a flatbed, and in some pretty weird, difficult, and tight ways.
