ok.....but.....if during the night some putz parks next to you and his truck is polluting like crazy, and you lave your window cracked open, or the berth vents open, and the carbon monoxide gets into your cab.....what good are those patches when you wake up dead...???..of course, you wouldn't really wake up....
best to have something wake you up.....just saying is all....

How many die a year from this?...I would think a proximity sensor that would go off before someone bumps your truck would be more beneficial...LOL

When you screw up, and you will, relax and don't turn a small mistake into a big costly one.

As I've said before, I have a CO monitor in my truck.
There was an &**hat who parked the next row up from me with a malfunctioning APU...the driver who was originally in the slot to his right had to move from all that smoke getting pumped into his cab. I took pictures of all that exhaust, but they turned out blurry. I might put up the big computer and post them anyway...if for no other reason than to show why this head-in-the-sand can't-happen-to-me attitude can be deadly.
Why even take the chance? You can't control who parks next to you. I have seen those trucks that exhaust to the ground. Isn't your life worth $42 for a monitor/alarm and a 9-volt battery? Mine has never malfunctioned and it gives me peace of mind to know what levels of CO I have been exposed to.jeddomike Thanks this. -

typically called "grass burners".....i had worked for a company, the WHOLE fleet was that type of exhaust.... -
Relax about the truck fires. You'll see alot of smoke before you have a fire. I had a bearing go out back in the 70's and welded some of the parts to the axle and no fire. I've caught seals leaking on the turbo and had smoke and no fire. Now don't get me wrong there are times if you're not paying attention you'll have a fire. We had one driver that had a fire that came up between the cab and the tank loaded with gasoline. All he did was pulled over and put the fire out. So you don't need to be freaky about fires. I've never had a tire start on fire. I've never heard of a driver having a fire on his tires just going down the road. I have seen fires when a driver does not know how to go down a grade and heats the brakes up some much it caught the tire on fire. You just have to use all your senses.BROKENSPROKET Thanks this. -

I think just a little paranoia will serve me well. I am not going to to be a basket case. I enjoy driving.
