Thanks for sharing man. I know where you're coming from 100%. Didn't exactly handle it right from the beginning and got myself in some trouble. It took a while to find what helped.

Just remember everyone is a little bit ####ed up too, puts your mind at ease

Antidepressants were probably the right move. As someone who actually beat severe depression, it cost me my old career, the only woman I’ve ever truly loved, and half of my family relationships. I almost died and the whole experience changed how I view people.

    Just a few thoughts.

First there is no such thing as one size fits all as much as there is no cure for mental Illness.

    antidepressants are mind altering drugs.

they, according to the researchers and developers of the drugs, are supposed to be part of a range of therapies including time being spent with a mental illness practitioner who can judge their effectiveness and to keep the person on the right path.

they are not a drug that should be given to children or young adults and should never be prescribed by any primary care physician or family doctor - if they do, they should lose their license to practice medicine.

While the op may think these are benign, they are far from it.

many of the problems of suicide and murders have a common thread, antidepressants were prescribe to the person.

It's about brain chemistry, not about "the way you are living." Some people's brains just don't make the right amounts of the various neurotransmitters, like dopamine and serotonin.

Depression is just as much as a disease as diabetes. You can't just shake it off and get on with life any more than a juvenile diabetic can shake off the insulin and expect to function.

Suggesting that a person’s mental health can be improved by joining a spiritual multi level marking scheme qualifies in my opinion.

Religion and spirituality can be great for those struggling with depression provided the community and doctorine is supportive . The person he was replying to suggested a philosophy/community that "encourages " giving over all major decisions in life to a person 's superior.

I call major bs on your opinion on the cause of depression. There is way more to depression than your uninformed opinion.
