Not sure what companies you all are talking about that take the time to show you logbooks and how they want them done, but the company I went to, orientation was so fast and furious, not much was learned. Our log class was about 1 hr and most of it was on company policy of what will happen if you get x amount of violations. The lat 10 minutes of it, they showed 3 logs and explained what was right or wrong with them. If you are by the terminal and do have questions, well hope someone is there and has the time. Tried to get some answers from our "expert" and he pulls up my logs and said "well this is wrong and this and this," etc. but when asked why and how to do better........had to go.
As for the trainer showing you- -hope you get a good one.
On the plus side-the votech I went to was excellant about logs and we started on them the very first day. Biggest problem I have with them is getting the count right.

I was/am attending Clark State in Springfield Oh. Going back to finish in March. The teacher spent 1/2 day on it with us, did "trips" and filled out the logs so we knew what to put on them. Then we did a log everyday after that. Getting the Keller book and looking it up online is really sound advice.
