Self taught and test will go away. You can still go to the short schools. There is a Training Provider Registry. The rules for being a trainer aren't that stringent and the curriculum for a Class A just requires a bit of documentation. People will just need to make sure their chosen trainer is registered.

The big change is going to be for doubles and triples. You no longer will be able to get the LCV add on by just taking a written test.

None of this (except the LCV) matter if you have your learner's permit. If you don't already have it, it's too late, as Monday is the 7th.

    thanks for the info…..

the old “trick” to getting your CDL for free was to work for a moving company (or any company that had box trucks in addition to tractor trailers) work hard for 6 months then tell them you wanted to get your “A”….. jump in a tractor trailer, teach yourself how to drive, go down get your permit for less than $100, then voila!! Schedule your road test and there you go!

with todays “mass shortage” of drivers im a LITTLE surprised they did away with the ability to self teach.
