The biggest problem is leasing a truck from the company that gets you loads and pays you.
If you want to lease a truck, then go to the dealership and lease a truck. All the major brands have a lease plan, and trust me, they are getting cheaper all the time.
The prices of new class 8 trucks are back down to what they were in the early 90s, and the dealers still cannot get them to move off there lots. These guys are swimming on high cost inventory that they must move.

Or used trucks can be great also. My company got a 2007 International 9900I in perfect condition a few months ago for 32k. It was just under 300 thousand miles and runs great, and was clean inside and out. They had called us 10 days before trying to sell it for 55k. So if you see one you like and the price is a little high, give the dealer your name and number. You will most likely get a call in the near future with a deal that is more to your likeing.

Or if you want to lease to own from a fleece deal you can pay 100k for the truck during the 3-4 years of the lease, then buy it out at the end for what the company says it is worth. Usually you will pay 20 to 50k. For a 4 year old truck that is not worth that much.

Well In all honesty things started picking up where I am at..I work at really great place and didnt want to leave..but things were looking mighty bleak..but we have rounded the tuff times and are working alot again..plus right now I am never out more then 4 days at a time...If and when I do leave where i am at I will go with JCT...I just dont like staying out 2 to 3 weeks at a time..i need to be home more than that...

I can only speak for myself as well aladdin sane but I'm with a company right now called Pro Transport & Leasing out of Grand Forks, ND and I wish I had stayed a company driver vs going with these people. I'm not going to say they are ALL bad BUT they only run their driver's enough to make their truck payment, pay for fuel, pay your maintence bill and any other charges you may incur while with them. BUT as far as extra money to take care of your family and Pay your own personal bills, forget about it.

And this same company continues hiring drivers to this day knowing they don't have work for them. But poor unsuspecting drivers who are looking for a job at the time fall for it.

I wish you luck with your decision.

Besides the tax breaks of leasing and most have a walk away option. I personally would rather hang my self first......my opinion. Better is to get your act together and buy one, and use your own plates. If you can not afford that option, stay a company driver. Too many don't have the reserve to park once in awhile to enjoy life or will go under because of one late settlement or breakdowns......common sense i would think.

2007 Int 9900 is top of the line International and a big truck for 32k. You can get 10-20 yrs out of a truck like that. But your Mpg maybe 6.5 tops. Still with all the 2008 and now 2010 engine crap it is a safe longterm bet.

Once you have your truck paid for your income goes up 50%-100%. 30cpm in the bank etc.

There will always be some drivers that swear their fleece is golden (the golden fleece!), but I always say post you fleece here so other drivers can analyze. And I am the type that will never fight with a fellow driver because I know the driver is always right.

Some people believe in paying off other people's bills (leasing) and some do not. If it's a crappy truck maybe a monthly lease could be better, but I still wouldn't fleece (CRE, New Prime (a better option than CRE) etc)

I also don't respect companies that force a fleece on a O/O. -You got to be really dumb to go from an owner to a fleecer. =I am sorry no job unless you succumb to the almighty fleece.

Aladin sometimes truckers can be mindless babblers i apologize for them BUT now let me answer your question. remember due diligence first if you go to ask questions of a company and they release no info on their lease like fixed and estimated varible costs run away as fast as you can point 2 do not lease a truck from any company that does not pull refers ie dry vans, flatbed, tanker and so on remember we are in a recession but people still have to eat just use your common sense and you will be fine.
