I had a really long lease thread a couple of years ago. Don't feel like dragging it up. I wanted to update my current year numbers, and show there are good, or at least decent lease programs.
The lease is 1 year long and I gain no equity or ownership of the truck. I turn the truck in after 52 weeks and I collect a bonus. I do it this way because I take a lot of home time between leases and through the year. I consider it more of a rental.
All miles, income and deductions are current as of today and final for the year. I will be at home until after the new year.
Miles
Empty miles 21,799
Loaded miles 58,474
Total miles 80,273
![]()
Income
Total income $201,150.41
That's right at $2.51 per mile all miles.
The blacked out part is sensitive to the company and I would rather it wasn't seen. The money is there though.
![]()
Total deductions
$103,154.75.
$9,193.92 are advances. I take them every week and that's what I live on. I subtract that number from my deductions as i take it in cash so it's a wash.
![]()
Adjusted deductions
$93,960.83
This includes all truck payments, insurance, maintenance deductions and tolls. Literally everything.
Total income $201,150.41
Total deductions $93,960.83
Total pretax net income $107,189.58
Total miles 80,273
Total pre tax net per mile $1.33.

Something that goes without saying, my miles are low. I take home time pretty often. I usually take at least a week off. Often 10 days or more.
If I wanted to really grind out the miles I could obviously make more, but home time is important to me.cjbrents Thanks this. -
Not bad if your goal is to never own a truck or a business and just do a "rental"... You can gain, as you said, more family time out of the deal.. If thats what you enjoy doing then I say congrats to you...dwells40 Thanks this.

My goal is to make 100k per year with 4 months at home per year.cjbrents, 59EX, Aamcotrans and 2 others Thank this.

So you achieve this goal by doing a Lease deal every year and turning the truck back in each year and getting another truck is that correct? or am i missing something
-
Basically yes.

Im not questioning your #'s but why is your dh so high? Its like 36% Also seems like a lot of other earnings that add up. 10k in detention pay, 26k for "reposition tractor" ? What does that mean?
-
hmmm I never thought of it that way... I mean if you do it right then you wouldn't ever have any major breakdowns by giving it back each year... So whats your plans for January? Gonna go get another truck from that company and do it all over again?
-
Dh is high because repo is high. Often times with loads I will have to pick up, deliver and then go back to where I picked up for another. That's where repositioning comes in.
Detention is detention. If I sit loaded because a customer cant unload me I get paid. My company charges a lot because of the type of freight.Last edited: Dec 19, 2018

#### :/ I only made 45k with 3 months off as a company driver.
Which was more than enough for me
